Fairies in Hobart

We made our way to the historic Salamanca Place last week which is home to some of Hobart’s finest boutiques, galleries, theatres, cafes and bars right on the Derwent River.

Nestled amongst the sandstone walls beyond the sun drenched courtyard, you can find the Faerie Shop. This store is a long time favourite and as a regular visitor to Hobart I have been time and again to find the perfect gift for the fairy loving girl.
As you walk down into the dimly lit store you will find the store has an abundance of magical trinkets including ornaments, jewellery, bags, toys, headwear, wands and costumes. My mind can’t help but take me to Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley within the walls of this magical store.
The word Faerie is the archaic word for Fairy which suits this store as it is like entering another time or place.
On the other side of the store you will find a gorgeous fairy garden where they hold children’s birthday parties and fun school holiday activities.
I love watching the mini shoppers as they walk through the beaded fairy grotto like they are living their very own fairytale.
If you are in Hobart it is completely worth the visit, there are trinkets for boys there too so you will be sure to please all the family.

There is word that the fairy shop will be launching an online store next year too, so if a trip to Tasmania is not on your list you will be able to buy some of these adorable dresses online.
